Waterford will be buzzing with activity this August as the Wild Bee Festival 2026 arrives at the Waterford Education Support Centre for a free weekend celebrating Ireland’s pollinating insects.

Taking place on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August 2026, the festival will bring together nature lovers, families, community groups, gardeners, teachers and biodiversity experts to learn more about wild bees and the important role they play in our environment.

The Wild Bee Festival is an annual celebration of pollinating insects and explores practical ways we can all help them survive and thrive in our local communities. Pollinators such as bees, hoverflies, butterflies and moths are essential for healthy ecosystems, food production and wildflower-rich landscapes, but many are under pressure due to habitat loss and environmental change.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a varied programme of talks, guided walks and hands-on workshops led by the National Biodiversity Data Centre, B Corridor, and biodiversity specialists. The festival will offer practical advice on how individuals, schools, businesses and local groups can support pollinators by creating more bee-friendly spaces.

Whether you have a garden, a balcony, a community green space or simply an interest in nature, the Wild Bee Festival is a great opportunity to discover how small actions can make a big difference.

The 2026 Wild Bee Festival is coordinated by the National Biodiversity Data Centre in collaboration with B Corridor.
